Well, it really did happen: Oblivion Remastered was shadow dropped on the 22nd April, following months of leaks and rumours.
The hype really started to build last week, as the weekend crept closer and closer. Nostalgia for the open world RPG whipped many fans into an absolute frenzy, and we'd be more than willing to bet that Bethesda has made a lot of money from immediate sales.
This is the power of a shadow drop, we suppose. Even though we knew it was coming, the leaks themselves ended up being the game's marketing campaign; a potent mix of rampant speculation and blind excitement.
The good news is that Oblivion Remastered seems to have struck a chord. Essentially a remake, it largely retains what makes Oblivion unique, while also giving the adventure a massive graphical boost alongside gameplay improvements.
We'll have our own Hands On impressions coming very, very soon — but until then, you may want to check out our Oblivion Remastered: Everything New and All Changes guide, which is being constantly updated as we continue playing.
