PlayStation Stars Shut Down Poll

So, PlayStation Stars is going the way of the dodo — but how much do you actually care about its demise?

The rewards program was first announced in 2022 before being rolled out to numerous regions over the course of several months. Basically, Stars was (technically still is) a loyalty scheme, offering extras to users who stay engaged with the PlayStation ecosystem.

Digital 'collectibles' have always been up for grabs, but honestly, we've always wondered how many people actually make use of them. Indeed, for most users, we're sure that the main draw of Stars is the opportunity to knock some of the cost off your next PS Store purchase.

Unlocking a little extra dosh for your digital wallet — a reward for completing challenges and spending on the storefront — was a real incentive to check in with PlayStation Stars every now and then. But of course, Sony caught criticism for removing these monetary offers last year — although they were soon reinstated.

The writing was on the wall, perhaps, with regards to the future of Stars. Earlier this week, Sony confirmed that the service would be shut down completely in November 2026.

That's obviously still a while off, but as of right now, no new members can join the program — and no new campaigns or additional rewards will be added to Stars beyond the 23rd June 2025.
