Zenless Zone Zero Planning a Sequel Sized Update for PS5 Fave's First Anniversary

Zenless Zone Zero’s massive v2.0 update will be arriving just in time for the game’s first anniversary, and it looks set to shake up the gacha in an impressive way.

As part of an epic info drop, HoYoverse has announced that the main storyline will take Phaethon to the Waifei Peniunsula – and yes, we can already see users renaming that location to Waifu Peninsula.

The Waifei Peninsula will play host to a new city location named Failume Heights, which has been designed to be larger and more expandable than Sixth Street.

One interesting quality of life feature here is that many locations will be accessible without loading screens, as they’ll be streamed in when you enter them.

One such point of interest will be the Suibian Temple, which will offer new tycoon-style management gameplay to replace the current video store minigame. Hopefully it’s a bit more exciting than what currently exists.

HoYoverse is keeping the main plot details under wraps, but unsurprisingly we will meet new characters in the fresh storyline, including the previously announced – and hotly anticipated – Angels of Delusion idol faction.

More information will be announced closer to release, but the developer says it’s committed to responding to feedback and will be continuing to tune older characters to ensure power creep doesn’t occur.

Just as an aside for PS5 players, the game’s period of console exclusivity is now over, with an Xbox port set to be unveiled imminently. Of course, that likely means more rewards for existing players, as newcomers are encouraged to try out the title.

I really hate how the combat has become very very damage spongy and the enemies hardly flinch anymore.

Then when I try to look up advice online, everyone is just horny posting. I sometimes wonder if I'm the only one actually trying to clear all this content.

@ATaco Thsts the way of all these games. Genshin, HSR etc. they have to up the HP pools AND often create new mechanics to powercreep older characters or make them less viable in new content simply because they want you to keep spending.

I play all three, and I proudly shouldn’t, it’s such a time sink. I quit ZZZ already but they pulled me back with Miyabi and less “TV/Hollow” sections which I hated. But I probably need to quit again, there’s just too much of an opportunity cost, missing other games.

@ATaco Not sure if it'll solve your specific issue you mention here, but they do talk about how they want the team building to be better moving forwards, and they want to give you reasons to use your non-DPS characters.

They also talk about new enemy attack patterns and how you may need to use unique techniques or combos to counter them.

Sounds like they're at least THINKING about new ways to keep the combat interesting beyond just upping the HP of enemies.

This was a lot of fun, the 30 hours I sunk in without paying a dime - it was generous and fun. But my god, did the addiction get unhealthy quickly. You’re encouraged to log in daily, I’d feel bad if I missed my run, or if I played another game.

I like to play games, not be played by them, so got out of dodge. Now I just stay up until 3am playing another game, but I’m not encouraged to spend money, and I can go a few days without gaming happily if I’m up to other shenanigans.
