Syberia Remastered PS5 1

Microids has confirmed it's bringing back the original point-and-click classic adventure game Syberia in a complete PS5 remaster, releasing at the end of 2025. It'll go by Syberia Remastered, but judging by the quality of the screenshots that accompany the announcement, this looks more like a full-on remake than anything else.

In a press release via Gematsu, it's revealed the remaster will include "a stunning visual overhaul, redesigned gameplay, and the same captivating storytelling that made it a classic". Using words like "faithful" and "stunning" the project plans to "carefully" rebuild all of the environments using "an art direction that stays true to Benoît Sokal’s unique style, offering an even deeper immersion into his singular visual universe".

Here are the screenshots to go with the announcement (click to enlarge):

The puzzles have been "redesigned to provide a smoother and more intuitive experience while preserving their essential role", and the UI and controls have also been updated to match today's standards.

If you haven't heard of the 2002 classic, here's a brief narrative setup: "Kate Walker, a brilliant lawyer from New York, is sent to a remote village in the French Alps to finalize the sale of an old automaton factory. But what begins as a routine assignment soon turns into an extraordinary journey across Eastern Europe and its snow-covered landscapes."
