Update []: There wasn’t a whole lot of new information about the new Virtua Fighter during today’s VF Direct, although producer Riichiro Yamada did confirm that the new game will have a much stronger narrative focus than its predecessors, as it leverages the strengths of developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, who’s best known for the Yakuza games, of course.

The stream includes some new artwork of Wolf Hawkfield, including a couple of different costumes, and provides a little behind-the-scenes insight into the project’s development. But it’s still very early, so that’s all for now.

Virtua Fighter's Wolf Hawkfield Looks Beastly in PS5 Makeover 1

Feral Virtua Fighter Wolf Hawkfield has been given a beastly makeover for Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s upcoming reboot.

While the character undoubtedly looks familiar, with his sharp nose and red tribal paint, his neck beard and unkempt red hair give him a much more savage appearance compared to previous games in the franchise. We love the new look!

Also, special mention must be reserved to this reveal video, which sees the character “walk out” like a boxer or wrestler. We assume this how the developer’s going to announce the rest of the release’s cast, and we’re excited to see how the rest of property’s protagonists have been redesigned.

Remember, this isn’t the only Virtua Fighter announcement planned for today, as a livestream will get underway from 7AM PT / 3PM BST. Depending on what’s announced, we’ll be sure to update this article.
