Dying Light 2, along with the original game and its Retouched update, is being updated later today with an all-new batch of content themed around indie hit Balatro and community creations.

The big addition is a collaboration with Balatro, which adds two new side quests and free items to the zombie title. In-game posters will point you towards the missions, then you will have to solve riddles relating to the game's universe to earn the Jimbo Outfit, a Ceremonial Dagger, Joker Charm, and a new skin for the paraglider.

The charm is of particular note, as it creates 12 different in-game effects to change certain elements. "Create a charm, and you’ll receive a random one with a unique gameplay effect. Just like in Balatro, some will be more useful than others."

Alongside the Balatro-themed content is a celebration of community creations, with a four-week festival highlighting different pieces of content. There'll be featured maps, new bounties to complete, and different visual mods to experiment with.

Confirming all the new content, Dying Light franchise director Tymon Smektała said: "We promised at least five years of support for Dying Light 2, and our fans can count on it. This summer we’re going all in for our community. We’re celebrating our incredibly talented modding community with a UGC Fest and have a full house of free content in the Dying Light 2 x Balatro: Friend of Aiden crossover."

Of course, Techland has the next game in the works, Dying Light: The Beast, scheduled for 22nd August 2025. A piece of DLC for Dying Light 2 that has been spun out into its own game, it costs £59.99 / $59.99. If you owned the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 before 30th September 2024, you'll get the game for free.
