Artists like The Cure, Roxy Music, Smashing Pumpkins, and even Stan Bush will all feature on the stacked MIXTAPE soundtrack.
The Into the Spider-Verse-style coming of age adventure, about the last night of high school, will feature an array of narrative vignettes, delivering a “greatest hits of teenage friendship, from first kiss to last dance”.
The blurb explains: “Players will immerse themselves in the teenage wasteland by playing through a mixtape of joyful gameplay, from skateboarding and flying to taking photos after hours at an abandoned theme park, hitting baseballs, and putting on a fireworks show from the backseat of a car.”

Obviously, there’s a good chance this could end up being a bit too heavy-handed – and titles like this aren’t as novel as they once were, when Life Is Strange first released. But it’s being published by Annapurna Interactive and has The Artful Escape dev at the helm.
We’re going to say this one is at least worth adding to your wishlist ahead of its launch later this year.

This looks super interesting! And while I don't like putting this game into a positive light, with putting another into a negative one, my initial thought was: This is the game that Bloom & Rage should have been or maybe wanted to be at some point, before it turned into a damn mess.
(Although we have to wait and see how Mixtape ultimately turns out).
A good soundtrack can definitely make me interested, so I put the game on the wishlist.
Similarly, a bad choice of music does the opposite. Mindseye just straight up copying Gears of Wars trailer song (Tears of Fears Mad World cover) is just such an unoriginal choice that it made the game seem even less interesting.
This is just the 1979 video by Smashing Pumpkins as a game and I'm well down for it.
Indie-Head here from around 1988, Soundtrack definitely has me peaked. Btw that opening track for the game Arcade Paradise, so JAMC absolutely love it ❤️
As someone born in '75, love the musical references and the old 80's voice over track. Not my usual genre but certainly keeping an eye on this from a nostalgia point.
@Perturbator There is 0 percent chance the MindsEye isn't just a couple of trailers/cinematics on each others shoulders in a trench coat just pretending to be a game. At best the gameplay will be a decent tech demo. At worst, it'll be a The Day Before situation.
The soundtrack is great but there’s not exactly much of a game surrounding it. Feels like it should just be a movie instead…. except a movie with these vibes and themes would not be novel in the slightest.
With a soundtrack like this Im hopiing they craft something interesting or it would be a waste. I grew up with a lot of this music annd it seems like its been well chosen..
I like AnnaPurna, they’re sort of like the gaming equivalent of A24 when it comes to the types of things they publish. This has earmarks of being something special, as long as they veer clear of the woke pitfalls that stupid volcano dinosaur school game took, the one by KO_OP. Keep this normal and relatable and it should do well.
@dv_xedge find it crazy to call Bloom and Rage a mess, loved that game but each to their own.
Interesting music selection. When I was a kid in the 80's most of this music was wasted on me as I was more led zeppelin, deep purple and iron maiden but as I grew older and becoming an accomplished bassist I grew to appreciate much more music than I ever thought I would and in my early 20's I was listening to bands I'd normally pass over. In my 50's now and a bassist for over 30 years and my music collection is ridiculously diverse. I don't think this game is for me to be honest but it certainly piqued my interest when roxy music started playing.
This looks too American so a definite skip for me. The artstyle looks really nice though!
