Battlefield 2042 is now available on PS Plus Extra, and it's immediately looking to grab the attention of the Mass Effect fanbase currently in hibernation. As they await the release of the next RPG entry from BioWare, the FPS has launched a crossover event containing Mass Effect cosmetic items.

The purchasable bundles went live yesterday alongside update 8.9.0, adding two lots of Mass Effect-themed items to the game's storefront. The Galactic Bundle costs 1,750 BFC, the Scoped & Dropped Bundle is 2,000 BFC, or you can buy both together for 3,000 BFC. As seen below, one included weapon skin turns your gun into the iconic M8 Avenger.

These bundles will be available until 1st July 2025.

Patch 8.9.0 also brings with it "a host of improvements including weapon changes. A new type of magazine attachment is being introduced: the Underloaded Magazine." There are also new modes to play in Portal, like Control, Shutdown, Strike Team, and Killswitch.

Alongside the improved Battlefield 2042, other new titles from yesterday's PS Plus Extra drop included FBC: Firebreak, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, and Endless Dungeon.

As for when the next Mass Effect game will launch, fans will more than likely have to wait at least a couple of years. BioWare recently downsized to accommodate the shift between Dragon Age: The Veilguard development and moving on to Mass Effect. It's at an early stage in production and doesn't require the help of the "full studio" right now.
