We know what you’re thinking: not another roguelite! We hear you! But to be fair, Towa and the Guardians of the Sacred Tree from Bandai Namco does legitimately look like one to watch.

“Towa, priestess of Shinju, stands united with eight trustworthy companions to defeat Magatsu,” the blurb reveals.

“Fight alongside a fellow guardian and wield the power of the sacred sword (Tsurugi) and staff (Kagura).

“Each guardian has its own abilities and set of swords, making each combat style and guardian pair unique. Together, pave your way through colourful lands, conquer dungeons, and defeat Magatsu’s minions!”

As you progress through the game, Shinju Village will evolve, and you’ll build new relationships with the inhabitants that live there.

Personally, we really like the Saturday morning cartoon art style, and while the isometric perspective is perhaps a little too reminiscent of Hades, we reckon it’ll at least be fun. The title’s due out on 19th September.
