The success story that is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 shows no signs of slowing down, as new data confirms the RPG generated more revenue in its second month on the market than the first.
According to Newzoo (via GamesIndustry.Biz), this is "unusual for a premium title". It's the other way around generally, and so this highlights the "strength of a high-quality game and continued word-of-mouth marketing".
The context comes from a Newzoo chart of the top 20 games across the "US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy" based on revenue for May 2025. In its debut month of April, Clair Obscur: Expedition was 13th, but for May, it charted higher in 8th.

It generated more revenue than DOOM: The Dark Ages did, despite being $20 cheaper. It would have needed to sell more copies to match the Bethesda FPS, and it still beat it for revenue despite being in its second month of availability and DOOM being the hot product for May.
Newzoo appears to include revenue generated by Xbox Game Pass in its charts, but as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is also on the service, it's not a key factor here. We already know the game has sold 3.3 million copies as of 27th May, so Sandfall Interactive has achieved a lot of success.
