Q-Games, the team behind the varied and beloved PixelJunk game series, is back to talk about its latest venture, and it continues to look truly strange and unique.
Announced back in February of this year, Dreams of Another is an unusual adventure game in which you fire weapons that bring things into existence rather than destroying them.
You explore an abstracted environment made up of countless floating particles, and shooting at them will bring them together to form objects and entities you can then interact with.

Special parts of the environment called Auras will require the use of specific weapons, and you'll unlock the full arsenal as you progress through the game.
CEO of the studio, Dylan Cuthbert, talks more about it on the PS Blog, emphasising how playing in PSVR2 amplifies the experience:
The game’s standout feature is its use of point cloud rendering, where space is visualized as a collection of floating particles.
On PS VR2, this technique truly shines, enveloping the player in a dreamlike world where your body feels as though it’s dissolving into the environment. The result is a mysterious and deeply immersive sensation, like traveling within a dream itself. Thanks to VR, players can feel that they physically exist within these worlds made up of nothing but particles.
The post also goes into a little more detail regarding the game's story and characters.
Two central characters, The Man in Pajamas and The Wandering Soldier, are the focal point of the narrative, but it seems many typically inanimate objects will have some things to say too.
"Trees swaying in the wind, lonely doors, softly glowing streetlights, and all sorts of objects come alive with humorous dialogue that casts a quirky light on the questions of human society," reads the blog post.
The regular flat screen version of the game is playable in third person only, but those playing with PSVR2 can optionally switch to a first person perspective as well.
However, if you stick with third person, the virtual reality version will include eye-tracked aiming, meaning you'll aim and shoot at targets just by looking at them.
