First Bonus PS Plus Extra Game from Days of Play Available Now on PS5

Sorry - what's a bonus PS+ Extra game? Isn't that like saying here's a game we were going to give you anyway, but now it's like a surprise gift? Surprise! It's just the same as any other PS+ Extra timed game isn't it - or am I missing something?

I gave up on Extra half a year ago, so I've not been following what's been going on that closely.

Looking forwards to diving back into myst and getting stuck again

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare It’s an additional game coming as part of Days of Play, not linked to the usual monthly updates for the service.

Been meaning to check out the crab game since Iron Pineapple covered it.

Will it get its "claws" into me?

@LiamCroft I get that's how it's being sold... but it's like saying instead of the 10 games we were going to add, we'll just keep one (or 3) separate an rebadge them as "bonuses". Maybe I'm just being too cynical, I just don't see this as a bonus as compared to marketing.

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare Well, we won’t know if that’s the case until the June lineup is confirmed, and if it actually is tiny.

@LiamCroft that's true... and don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. Just saying it sounds like a PR tactic to give people the impression that Days of Play has a bit more oomph. Edit - side question: is it oomf or oomph?

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare maybe they purposefully held games back from the May line up to do this. Wouldn't put it past them.

I won't moan though get to try a game I've almost bought a few times

Another Crabs Treasure is well worth your time if you are into souls like games. Yeah it looks goofy but it does play like a souls game.

Even if souls games are not your thing it's still worth a look as it has difficulty option that let you tune things to your preferences.

Sadly for me this is another game I already played to completion on Xbox Gamepass and have no reason to do so again on PS5.

Edit: oh it's an Extra tier so I couldn't play it anyway. 🤷

Slightly off topic and I’m sure it’s me just being dim, but - Destiny 2 The Final Shape…I thought that should be now available free to PS Plus subscribers…..it still shows as £41.99 in the store…?

@LiamCroft we kinda already saw May was poor compared to the amount they removed didnt we?

@Feffster - Final Shape is part of the PS Plus Essential games, those aren't available until next Tuesday.

@Shigurui - thanks. I read the other 3 are coming next Tuesday but that Destiny Final Shape was coming yesterday (28th May). Maybe it has been delayed.

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare You’re right on the money. We usually get two or three classics per month with Premium, for example, yet this month we only got one. But wait! We have two “bonus” classics coming so that makes the usual three. What a coincidence.

@Feffster Final Shape is available on the 30th. The date changed on the blog and was originally the 28th

Does anyone know of Riven will be available to purchase? I haven’t found anything online about it. I know most classics are available to purchase when they’re on PS+, but I believe a small handful haven’t been.

@Odium No 100% confirmation but it’s most likely it will. Only a few weren’t and some of those were later updated and now can be. Trophies have been confirmed for both Myst and Riven though!

@VeldinX that’s what I figured, thanks for the reply! My wife and I played through Myst together years ago, but never got to play Riven, so I’d like to be able to do that with her without upgrading what tier I have.

@Feffster yup me too. I enjoy Destiny 2 but stopped buying the dlc directly when Bungie started the practice of vaulting (removing) paid dlc content.

I think I have managed to get pretty much all the content drops via PS Plus instead. You just have to wait a little while is all.

As if they are adding myst and riven. Legendary point and clicks from the PS1 days. Have both on the shelf. Hope we get trophy support but I’ll play them either way

it looks fun , i'll check it out , i want games like this , i might have not checked it out before , but when its on ps+ you aren't really losing anything by trying it.

@PlatinumMikey Someone on the IC discord reached out to Cyan asking if Myst and Riven will have trophies and it was confirmed they will! 😉

@Titntin because I know how the real world works. It's ok if you're happy... but if you think this isn't managed to the nth degree, I am a little surprised. That's how marketing works. Make something out of nothing. Let me suggest how it would have been a "bonus"... tie it to Essential, meaning that it's not timed like everything else on Extra. Or at the very least, offer a DAY ONE game. I get that you have some axe to grind (it would seem against me personally)... but don't you think you're taking this a little too personally for what I said?... especially after I just gave you a nod before because I agreed with you on something you posted.

I've already said (read the follow-on comments) that I don't have a problem with it... it's just that this is NOT a bonus, because it's not in addition to something that you were already getting (ie they didn't just change their minds and say, "you know what, what the hell, let's just throw something extra in". They set what you get. This is planned. But I don't have any problem with people enjoying that they got this as part of their service... just that this is marketing BS. Edit...AND JUST TO REITERATE... I actually don't have a problem with people loving that they put these games on... but why not just put them on as part of the monthly drop?

Edit - and just to be clear... you not "expecting" happens EVERY MONTH.... that's my point. They choose what they announce, and when (or IF). Case in point... everywhere else is getting Days of Play price cuts on PS hardware and physical games. Australia isn't. We don't get discounts on ANY hardware, or ANY physical games as part of the current sale. It's not because they hate us - it's because they've made a very rational business call that it doesn't make sense to offer us discounts at this point. That's exactly the same mentality that is driving PS+ Extra. That's business.

It's Friday - take a break from trying to attack people for having an opinion you don't agree with. And maybe a little less knocking back the Kool-Aid so early in the day. I'm not telling you, you shouldn't like they put this game on their service, and I genuinely hope everyone enjoys it. Just don't think I'm going to celebrate every time Sony clicks it's fingers... even as an OG PS1 owner, and PS lover. IMHO, we need some more honesty in the community, to stop the PR BS from ruining everything.

I preferred it when it was a flat out £40 a year and 1 tier because ever since the 3 tier system it's just got worse. And every month the games have been meh at best yes it would be more now probably £100 a year but go back to a 1 tier system hell the lower tier is perfect for me but I go on a rolling system I cancel when I want and sun when I want
