PS5 First-Party Game Sales Will Increase Over Next Year, Sony Says 1

Sony is predicting a big year for first-party PS5 software moving forward, as it forecasts an increase in sales for its own exclusive software.

We already know, of course, that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is due out in June and Ghost of Yotei will follow in October. Other announced titles that could contribute to the company’s success include Lost Soul Aside, Marathon, and the PC release of Stellar Blade.

In its latest financial report, the platform holder predicted a decline in hardware sales for its upcoming fiscal year, but noted this should be offset by an increase in first-party and third-party software. It’ll be interesting to see if it has any other first-party titles planned for the coming months.

During the 12-month period which ended on 31st March, 2025, the manufacturer sold 28.9 million first-party games – approximately 10% of the total 303.3 million software units it sold for the device overall. We’d expect it to improve on that number dramatically with its current lineup.

It’s perhaps worth pointing out that microtransactions are by far the biggest money spinners for Sony these days, so it’s no surprise the manufacturer’s desperate to have a slate of live service successes it can call its own.
