Re: Poll: Years Later, How Do You Feel About PlayStation's PC Strategy?

ArcticSin

I have no interest in buying a console for its exclusives. Ever. I'm not a PCMR elitist but I have no interest in buying a locked-down system that plays games exponentially worse than my PC and where I also have to pay for online. If Playstation (and other systems) games don't come to PC I will never buy those games, plain and simple. By ignoring the market that appeals to me and potentially millions of others, Sony is straight up losing tons of money.

But, I have bought and fully played, Uncharted 4, both Spider-Man games, and The Last of Us Part 1. I thought they were all fantastic. I also bought Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War but I haven't got to them yet. I'm really excited for Ghost of Tsushima. I don't think releasing games on PC reduces the quality of the brand, rather it improves it by allowing people to play PS games on the systems that they want to.

I think Sony's Playstation PC strategy is great and I would love it if Nintendo would follow suit.

@4kgk2 and that's 1 million sales that never would have been made had it never come to Xbox. Another 1-2 million never would have been made had it never come to PC/Steam. I doubt Square would be willing to just drop those systems for an exclusivity deal and leave out millions of sales.

Although I say that but Kingdom Hearts 3 still has yet to come to Steam...

Re: Talking Point: Would You Care About a PS5 Remote Play Handheld?

ArcticSin

I think Sony could still do a traditional handheld. Let's say they do an ARM-based machine, and Sony gets their first party developers to cross-compile and optimize their titles for ARM, you could have a machine that could play the same games as a PS5 but with obviously downgraded graphics, although maybe not that downgraded depending on the quality of the hardware.

The biggest problem at that point would be third-party titles, but x86-Arm interpretors are getting better each year so that might not even be an issue.

I use ARM BTW because it's more power efficient and easier to cool than x86.

Re: The Last of Us PC Is Not 'Naughty Dog Quality', Developer Admits

ArcticSin

For those of you begging Sony to give up on PC after this, stfu. I never would've played The Last of Us, Horizon, Uncharted or God of War (haven't gotten around to Days Gone or Sackboy yet) without their PC ports.

And no, I don't think exclusives are a good enough reason to get a console, exclusivity itself has lost all of it's value over the last 20+ years as the industry has become mainstream and the common gamer knows what systems they prefer.

And if these games great enough for Sony to make them first-party (which I think they are) then I want to play them at their very best, on PC with all the extra goodies like kb/M, ultrawide and high refresh rate and whatnot. I'm perfectly fine waiting for TLOU part 2, (I was never in the hater gang), GoW Ragnorok, Horizon Forbidden West and Final Fantasy 16 to hit PC so they can be at their full glory, provided the port is good, which is the real pressing matter here.

Re: Rumour: Half-Life: Alyx Allegedly Locked for PSVR2

ArcticSin

People won't mind this but will soy rage when PS games come to PC, guarantee it.

Regardless I'm all for this because I have a friend who only plays on Playstation that I've wanted to get into half life for a while and I would love to get them this.

Re: PS5 Exclusives Will Take at Least One Year to Launch on PC

ArcticSin

I don't want to spend 500+ bucks on a system I don't even want just to play a couple games. I'd rather wait a year for them to come to PC so I can have them in my steam library where all the rest of my games are. I would not be buying these games if they didn't come to pc.

Sony keeping their games exclusively on Playstation would actually be a barrier between them and my money so this is a win-win for us both

Re: Microsoft Buys Call of Duty Publisher Activision Blizzard

ArcticSin

In all serious this sucks, it's bad enough Microsoft are the industry standard for everything outside of gaming, now they also want to be the only player in gaming. I'm a Linux user and hate Microsoft with every fiber of my being for how anti-competitive and cancerous they've become in the computer industry
