Re: Soapbox: I Think I'm Over Trophies

alphadrago5

I've always seen trophies as a reference for content that I haven't yet seen or difficult tasks that I'll want to accomplish.

If I put in the time to complete the game, it's out of respect for the game and for its developers. I simply can't understand viewing the trophies themselves with any particular importance.

Re: Gulp! PS5 Stock Shortages Could Last Until 2023

Honestly, I don't care anymore. I feel like this whole situation is a marketing ploy to force people to buy bundled PS5's. Sony has already stated that the PS5 sells at a loss because of it's high manufacturing cost. If they were seriously trying to meet the demand, they're more than competent enough to do it.

Re: PS5 Games Won't Support PSVR, Says Sony

alphadrago5

I'm honestly totally okay with this as long as PSVR2 is a major step-up from the first PSVR. Restricting new software to new hardware is hardly a new concept. All this does is set the ball higher for Sony. PSVR2 needs to feel at least as good as the other VR options.

Re: Gamers Will Happily Pay $70 for PS5 Games, Argues Analyst

alphadrago5

I don't think people realize how much effect the price increase is gonna have on the game developers.

Consider how high expectations are now when a high budget game is released.
Remember how many people refunded Anthem and No Man's Sky when they launched at $60? The cacophony around EA's Battlefront 2 before loot boxes were removed? Even the review bombings on great games like Ghost of Tsushima and TLOU2.

Great, now those buyers are gonna be spending at least $10 more on their day one purchases. Every minor bug, low-res texture, translation issue, inconsistency, and voice crack will be scrutinized more than ever. It might be easier for developers of single player games, since they can still recover from a poorly received launch, but if a multiplayer game doesn't have many players, then even lowering the price might not be enough to save it.

TL;DR - Higher Prices, Higher Expectations. My confidence that most games will meet those expectations is very low.

Re: PS5 Games Could Cost $10 More Than PS4

alphadrago5

To be quite honest, when I look for good value in video games, the only 2K games I think of are the ones in the bargain bin at <$15.

If I'm paying $70 for a game, it better be because I'm buying a bundle with no less than $10 worth of additional content.

Re: Fallout 76 Is Free to Play on PS4 This Weekend

alphadrago5

@Futureshark For what it's worth, I still enjoyed Anthem as a game. The gameplay and combat was fun, and the world looked pretty. The full game wasn't any better than the beta, which was the problem.

Fallout 76, on the other hand, is a waste of space even in a trash heap.

Re: ANTHEM Is Being Reinvented Over the Coming Months, Says BioWare

alphadrago5

I wanted to love Anthem when it came out, but I felt like the full release barely built on what was available to players in the beta. The core gameplay loop, especially for me as Interceptor, was hella fun, but the appeal was mostly from me making my own fun instead of doing anything rewarding.
I didn't experience all the content in the game, since I stopped playing after a bit over a week, but nothing made me want to continue playing or come back either, since I felt like I got everything I wanted out of the game. Hopefully that will change with this revamp.

Re: Mini Review: Audica - Harmonix's PSVR Rhythm Game Is Right on Target

alphadrago5

@gbanas92 For me it's the exact opposite. I whiff hits in Beat Saber all the time that I know should hit, and it frustrates me to no end. I've tried changing the position of the camera at least a dozen times but it's still always inconsistent.
Surprisingly though, I've never suffered from that problem in Audica, with the only thing there giving me trouble being the timing, but that depends more on each song map than the game itself.
