One of the big reasons why I have not purchased a PlayStation 4 is the mandatory PlayStation Plus subscription in order to get the full experience by using the online feature of the games. I have been holding out in hopes Sony would reduce or eliminate this mandatory requirement but now this.
Sony needs but a tenth of what they rake in from all the lemmings feeding into this to maintain PSN, it's a cash cow just like Micro$oft's Live for the Xbox 360 and One. I never did and never will want a PlayStation Plus subscription.
Free games, as the saying goes "If something is free, you are the product." I have no problem purchasing a game if like it, I do not care about so called free games.
RIP eighth generation.
And the mandatory (how many games use/are online to be played) PlayStation Plus subscription is a big part of why I still do not have a PS4. I never did and do not want a PlayStation Plus subscription period. I have no problem purchasing a game if like it (but will always get physical over digital), so to say there are some free games is "Meh, who gives a crap" for me. I guess the PS3 will be the end of my PlayStation experience that started back in '96. I still have brand loyalty for the older systems but say hypothetically Samsung came out with game console with no need to pay for a subscription to play online... I don't know.
If this rumor is true I hope they ditch the AMD APU. I'm happy I have not purchased a PS4... yet? I been a Sony PlayStation user for 19 years when I got my PS1 eight months of after the NA '95 release, the PS2 a month or two after release and the PS3 when they bundled it with the Dualshock 3 but I just don't know when/if I will go PS4. I do not want to subscribe PlayStation Plus just to game online (vast amount of games these days are all about gaming online too) and don't care about free games. But, I still have the retro gaming bug keeping me busy.

I bought my first PlayStation on May 10 1996 at 1:34pm from a high school buddy working at Walden Software in Fishkill NY for $299.99 with Sony memory card for $24.99. Yeah I still have the receipt. No games on the receipt though?
@SteveButler2210 I would like to add to that.
Why Your Old Super Nintendo and Nintendo yellows.
There are many different types of plastic, but the kind most commonly found in old computer hardware is called ABS, or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene. In its pure form, ABS plastic is combustible not the sort of thing you want in a mass-market consumer product. Thus, plastic manufacturers mix in a variety of flame retardant chemicals usually involving large amounts of bromine, a naturally brown liquid to help reduce a product's chance of catching fire.
The problem is that bromine undergoes a reaction when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation in other words, most sources of light, both natural and artificial. This breaks the bonds that were created during the manufacturing process, and leaves bromine molecules free to seek out oxygen. This process, also known as oxidation, is responsible for the increasingly brown or yellow appearance of old plastics over time. Add heat to the mix can actually accelerate the rate of discoloration.
What can you do about it?
Take apart the console to just the plastic shell. Than use Cream Peroxide 40Vol can be found at hair salons or any place that sells hair salon products or a high-concentration solution of hydrogen peroxide, mixed with a food thickening agent (this is dangerous — risk of skin burns and blindness — and should only be done with an abundance of caution) paint the paste onto all of the console shell or any other plastic that has yellowed, cover with plastic wrap (to keep from drying out) and than place under a UV light (direct sunlight will work too) for a 5-8 hours turn over from time to time to get all sides. Do not allow the hydrogen peroxide to dry! This will cause scars on the plastic surface. If using the sun avoid hot areas such as black asphalt.
This layout of the analog stick over the d-pad all started with the Saturn 3D controller. I didn't like it back than and any other iteration of this layout after it. The SCPH-1180 was the fist time we got analog sticks with symmetry and it was love at first sight for me. Of course I grew up when the d-pad was the only thing to use for movement so an analog stick is secondary to me.
Plain drinking water and restaurant style tortilla chips with real salsa are my thing. Don't really care much for the soda. Drink much of it as a kid though.
Hell no... that is absolutely a good way to keep me for purchasing any given video game. Will not tolerate mandatory internet connection, required to be (can not play the game if you are not) logged in to your account. Five or less years later they depending how much money the game is still generating they turn off the servers you got you self a expensive drink coaster with case if there is going to be physical copy.
"more variety and a more rewarding experience with friends" What if your circle of friends are not into racing game or they lose interest long before you do but want to keep playing and forced to continue with any fine nature individuals we always find online to ruin your fun.
Hmmm... no sir, I don't like it.
I'm okay with smaller bite size games say around 3GB but not so happy to fill up my hard drive with AAA large file size games and will always say away from anything with digital rights management. Funny thing on the subject of DRM and Capcom. Final Fight Double Impact is the only game I have with DRM because Capcom at the time publication in North America and Asia this small detail was overlooked and was left out in the information of the game.
@Azikira The Orange Box was brought to the PlayStation 3 by Electronic Arts. Valve's founder Gabe Newell has explicitly stated in the past calling the PlayStation 3 a "a waste of everybody's time" and "The PS3 is a disaster on many levels... I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over. Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it ," Valve's Tom Leonard said "The PC and the 360 are just more straightforward. We can focus on what we want to do, which is make game experiences, instead of sweating bullets over obscure architectural decisions they make with their platform." simply put the system is too complex to work with. Valve did give in later to develop and publish on the PS3 to bring Counter-Strike Global Offensive and Portal 2.
I like Zen Studios but with all the hate Valve showed the PS3 has me in the position of not wanting to have anything to do them. If it was not for Electronic Arts there would not be any Valve software on the PlayStation 3. Except for two Counter-Strike Global Offensive and Portal 2.
I have little interest in Life Is Strange but would like to see a sequel to Remember Me. I like the idea of time manipulation in Life Is Strange but turned off by the teenage high school girl drama. I was excited about Remember Me well before it got release as I am a sucker for futuristic science fiction settings as long as it is not zombie overran or have mutants mutated far beyond reality. Side note, writing this gets me thinking about the sequel to Blade Runner we may see sometime in 2017.
The real question is when does Super Street Fighter V get released. How long will it be till we get the definitive version with endless DLC feature updates. All jokes aside I appreciate the DLC updates but I like to wait for the Super version before purchase.
@ShogunRok No, don't have a PS4 yet... hopefully someday budget permitting. But just like Godsire I'm not happy about having to pay to play games online and not having some of the basic the options that the previous console had.
Yes, I have played on a PS4 not extensively but when I go over to a friends house that has one we sit down to play and throw back some cold ones.
My own PS3 just turned seven last December by biggest problem is I ran out of room on the hard drive and it takes a long time to move 280GB to an external hard drive via USB than move it back to a bigger HDD.
A PS2 can last many many years just clean out the dust in fact that goes for any video game console. Every two years or 500-800 hours of use whichever comes first. Dust, pet hair and smoke buildup will kill them. Smoke is the worst if you or anyone in the household smoke do not do it anywhere near any electronic device you are mildly fond of if and you want it to last especially optical disk type.
@EWolf I never did get a network adapter for the phat PS2 I know the slim has it integrated into it but never used it. Have you used the PS2 network within the last year, does any of the PS2 games still have online play?
Yeah, the having space to set all the stuff up I hear you that one I also have a Nintendo and the Super Nintendo, Sega Master System, Atari 2600..... and so on but have to dig them out when I want to use them unhook one to hook the other in.
I have two of them, one fat hooked up to a LCD TV (my main one) with RGB cables and one slim hooked up to a CRT TV for light gun games and no way would I ever get rid of any one of them. My PS2 slim sits in the middle of my Sega Genesis non-TMSS model 1 and my Sega Saturn.
For me all reviews, point of views and opinions are considered written, video and just a plain score but for the last ten years I also like to see the Gameplays, Lets Plays and Walkthroughs with or without commentary (well I prefer without so I can hear the sounds of the game) to see if it is indeed a game I want to play/own. This is done for new and vintage games before I purchase them. Sometimes I will spend a week or more thinking about and evaluating a game to determine if a video game is worthy I my ownership.
I would rather go skateboarding my games. If they are to easy no point in me playing them. If they make them accessible for newborn babies I only hope they also make them with much harder settings and be able to remap the controller to not shun hardcore player base like myself. I have been gaming since 1983 and let me tell you I know a hard game when I see one.
@Splat Lucky dog. Full time or part time? I am still losing the battle I had take my '89 Chevy Blazer off the road and don't know what to do. I'm very much under water at 38 years old. Anyway, it will be sometime before I get a PS4... feels like if ever. I have been selling more stuff than usual on eBay to make money.
"At the very, very least, Sony – please let us buy the DualShock 4." That is exactly what was thinking they should at least make more 20th anniversary edition DualShock 4's.
The first time I saw the white DualShock 3 I instantly thought, man I love to get one in the old light gray color just like PlayStation 1.
I liked this game so much at the time I asked my friend (the Electronics Boutique store manager) if I could take the store display and now I have it up on the wall over a window.
Sony executives couldn't predict the outcome like this at the time it all started when Ken Kutaragi "The Father of the PlayStation" who was facing increasing criticism over his work with regard to entering the video game industry from within Sony. Negotiations officially ended in May 1992 with Nintendo and in order to decide the fate of the PlayStation project a meeting was held in June 1992 consisting of Sony President Ohga, PlayStation Head Kutaragi and several senior members of Sony's board. At the meeting Kutaragi unveiled a proprietary CD-ROM-based system he had been working on which involved playing video games with 3D graphics to the board. Eventually, Sony President Ohga decided to retain the project after being reminded by Kutaragi of the humiliation he suffered from Nintendo. Nevertheless due to strong opposition from a majority present at the meeting as well as widespread internal opposition to the project by the older generation of Sony executives Kutaragi and his team had to be shifted from Sony's headquarters to Sony Music a completely separate financial entity owned by Sony so as to retain the project and maintain relationships with Philips for the MMCD development project (which helped lead to the creation of the DVD). The PlayStation project SCEI's first official project was finally given the green light by Sony executives in 1993 after a few years of development.
Also, The Japanese people may need to rethink the number 4 as unlucky. In Japan 4 is pronounced shi which is the same pronunciation as for death and because of this superstitions related to 4 were observed since the old times. For example, even today gifts should never be made of 4 pieces the number 4 is rarely used to number a room and in some high-rise buildings 4 is skipped when numbering the floors.
@Ginkgo The Atari 2600 PS4 does look cool.
I also found this NES PS4 nice too.
To bad there is not a Mega Drive/Genesis version that would be the one I want but out of all in this article I would get the PS2 inspired design.
When I saw this I was thinking... Primal Rage a new updated Primal Rage. Cool, but than read on to find out it's a Torok like game and not a sort of Mortal Kombat fighter. @Bad-MuthaAdebis That does sound like a good idea to turn the tables on the poachers especially the ones that are it for more than just the money to feed their family.
I will buy DLC packs individually and maybe not all of them depends how much I like the game but I have no problem waiting for the Game Of The Year Edition, Complete Collection, Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Bundle. I only purchase all in one DLC (Season Passes) pack when I am really in to the game and can't wait like Battlefield 3 Premium was last one put money down for.
On PS3 that's okay wouldn't want BF4 for PS3 only PS4. I do not want any newer game released on the PS4 for the PS3. You know it is a game trial and it will be put in your trophies list for ever once you hit the start button.
Wow and the Thrustmaster T300RS wheel is only 350 to 400 dollars and the T80 (which also has a Driveclub Edition) looks stupid with where the L&R 2,3 buttons are. Also and this is the kicker the T80 wheel does not have force feedback!?!
I know Logitech has declared that it’s getting out of the video game console business for good. That could be one reason for no support for Driveclub or PS4 for that matter. http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/logitech-heads-back-to-mice-and-keyboards-as-it-exits-the-video-game-console-business/
I think it's about time for Sony to come up with their own wheel and pick up where Logitech left off.
The highlight of PlayStation Home for me was Christmas/New Years time 2011 with the Winter Holiday Hullabaloo a collection of quests and community activities that rewarded home items that was fun and the UNCHARTED 3 Fortune Hunter game to unlock content for UNCHARTED 3's multilayer was nice. I also loved the virtual E3 booths but yeah have not used PlayStation Home since sometime last year. Wish I hadn't spent the $17.98 on virtual content like the Playground apartment and the LOOT™ EOD TV. It was amusing to watch HD Nation from Revision3 on that thing. Watching a virtual TV on a TV while sitting in a virtual apartment in my house. lol
Should I get Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix? I already have Street Fighter II Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II for the Sega Genesis also the first Street Fighter II collection for the PSone. Also I have the first SFII release for the SNES but like the Genesis more because of the official Sega six button game pad and the sounds effects sound better to me.
I voted Billionaire’s Club just because it's a wast of $4. There are four more avatars by Populus Media that are also $4.
My avatar is from Ghouls 'N Ghosts very good game for the Genesis still love to set down play it and besides it fits my PSN username nicely and it is only $0.49. Like that 16-bit look as well.
Virtua Cop and Virtua Cop 2 on the Saturn and Sonic 3 with Sonic & Knuckles lock on tech on the Genesis also In The Hunt on the PS1 and Soldier Blade on the PS3.
I really have not much in the way of feelings for this game to me it's not a Battlefield game just Electronic Arts scared to release it as a new intellectual property and marketing it to ride the coattails of the Battlefield franchise name.
I got me WRC FIA World Rally Championship 4 because of the 900* wheel support and I didn't have a WRC for the PS3. Wish it was more like Codemasters's games but with the 900* wheel support the one of the reason I stop getting their games. WRC 4 is just down right bad when using a game pad.
I have a feelings of disdain and contempt when I think of Codemasters after games like Dirt Showdown, F1 RACE STARS and than Grid 2. It was a letdown for me to find out still no full support of wheels (multiple wheel rotation) in Dirt 2 and than Dirt 3 that I never bought. Dirt Showdown and F1 RACE STARS was kid stuff which I guess is nice. Grid 2 no cockpit view the game looked to have bad handling. Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising was gritty realistic and having a stark realism it was awesome but Red River sounded like it lost most of the girt that I would have been looking for.

Re: These Custom PS4 Hard Drive Covers Are Really Cool
@Ginkgo The Atari 2600 PS4 does look cool.

I also found this NES PS4 nice too.
To bad there is not a Mega Drive/Genesis version that would be the one I want but out of all in this article I would get the PS2 inspired design.
Re: Primal Carnage: Extinction Will Be the PS4's First Dinosaur Battle Sim
When I saw this I was thinking... Primal Rage a new updated Primal Rage. Cool, but than read on to find out it's a Torok like game and not a sort of Mortal Kombat fighter.
@Bad-MuthaAdebis That does sound like a good idea to turn the tables on the poachers especially the ones that are it for more than just the money to feed their family.
Re: Talking Point: Do You Ever Stump Up for Season Passes?
I will buy DLC packs individually and maybe not all of them depends how much I like the game but I have no problem waiting for the Game Of The Year Edition, Complete Collection, Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Bundle. I only purchase all in one DLC (Season Passes) pack when I am really in to the game and can't wait like Battlefield 3 Premium was last one put money down for.
Re: PlayStation Plus Members Will Be Able to Try Battlefield 4 for Free
On PS3 that's okay wouldn't want BF4 for PS3 only PS4. I do not want any newer game released on the PS4 for the PS3. You know it is a game trial and it will be put in your trophies list for ever once you hit the start button.
Re: Sorry, PS4 Racer DriveClub Will Only Support Thrustmaster Driving Wheels
Wow and the Thrustmaster T300RS wheel is only 350 to 400 dollars and the T80 (which also has a Driveclub Edition) looks stupid with where the L&R 2,3 buttons are. Also and this is the kicker the T80 wheel does not have force feedback!?!

I know Logitech has declared that it’s getting out of the video game console business for good. That could be one reason for no support for Driveclub or PS4 for that matter.

I think it's about time for Sony to come up with their own wheel and pick up where Logitech left off.
Re: Sony Shutting the Door on PlayStation Home Next Year
The highlight of PlayStation Home for me was Christmas/New Years time 2011 with the Winter Holiday Hullabaloo a collection of quests and community activities that rewarded home items that was fun and the UNCHARTED 3 Fortune Hunter game to unlock content for UNCHARTED 3's multilayer was nice. Watching a virtual TV on a TV while sitting in a virtual apartment in my house. lol
Re: Store Update: 16th September 2014 (North America)
Should I get Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix? I already have Street Fighter II Champion Edition and Super Street Fighter II for the Sega Genesis also the first Street Fighter II collection for the PSone. Also I have the first SFII release for the SNES but like the Genesis more because of the official Sega six button game pad and the sounds effects sound better to me.

Re: Weirdness: How Would You like to Study PlayStation at University?
I don't speak Korean but it would be interesting hear precisely what the course discussions are all about.
Re: Feature: 21 of the Most Awful PlayStation Network Avatars
I voted Billionaire’s Club just because it's a wast of $4. There are four more avatars by Populus Media that are also $4.

My avatar is from Ghouls 'N Ghosts very good game for the Genesis still love to set down play it and besides it fits my PSN username nicely and it is only $0.49. Like that 16-bit look as well.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 34
Virtua Cop and Virtua Cop 2 on the Saturn and Sonic 3 with Sonic & Knuckles lock on tech on the Genesis also In The Hunt on the PS1 and Soldier Blade on the PS3.
Re: Gamescom 2014: Lay Down the Law with Battlefield Hardline's First Single Player Footage
I really have not much in the way of feelings for this game to me it's not a Battlefield game just Electronic Arts scared to release it as a new intellectual property and marketing it to ride the coattails of the Battlefield franchise name.
Re: Switched Systems? Transfer Your Diablo III Progress from 360 to PS4
Now if they could move all of their achievements over too.
Re: Store Update: 29th July 2014 (North America)
I got me WRC FIA World Rally Championship 4 because of the 900* wheel support and I didn't have a WRC for the PS3. Wish it was more like Codemasters's games but with the 900* wheel support the one of the reason I stop getting their games. WRC 4 is just down right bad when using a game pad.
Re: Review: GRID Autosport (PlayStation 3)
