Re: Stellar Blade Dev Shows Off Silky Smooth Steam Deck Gameplay

@PlatinumMikey PS handheld could be incredible if it plays proper games (not Temu versions like back in the day) native with cross progression and at least 40fps. Really would get me interested. Problem would be that anything on it would be a come-down from the Pro. But I’d be interested and would sell big.
I’m not interested in the portal partly because I can’t leave the house with it and I’m not sold on cloud and worry it would not be smooth. It’s too expensive to try out as well! Shame I can’t borrow one from someone.

@PlatinumMikey Fallout 76? Fallout 4 is verified on it. Verified games are ones Steam claim run well out the box on the deck. Sometimes! Websites like Steam Deck HQ give reviews and recommended settings. You do have to be a PC geek sometimes to work it out. I’m not that but have really enjoyed getting into PC gaming.
A game like Prey at 40fps on deck is amazing and RDR2 and Mafia at 60fps on PC is next level. It’s criminal these games are 30fps on console. I won’t play. I’m not a forensic digital foundry type gamer but it’s so poor and sluggish. I can’t go back.

What is incredible now is the choice - Xbox Game Pass, PC, Deck, PS5 and Pro. So many amazing platforms and games.

Re: Stellar Blade Dev Shows Off Silky Smooth Steam Deck Gameplay

@PlatinumMikey that’s fair. I wanted to get into PC gaming so that was a cheap option for me to do that rather than go heavy on a £1000 rig. I have built up a large library on Steam where older games can cost peanuts. Wolfenstein, Sniper Elite, Doom, Vampyr, Two Point Hospital and lots and lots of others. Some will do 60 and most can run well at 40 as a compromise. I’ve now got a rig too so it gave me a taste!
You are right though - if you are expecting new AAA or PS5 games on it, I’d say don’t it’s not for you imo. Although I’ve heard Spider-Man, Miles Morales and Hogwarts Legacy are decent enough on it but not what I would buy tbh.

Re: Stellar Blade Dev Shows Off Silky Smooth Steam Deck Gameplay

@PlatinumMikey I’ve a deck and 40fps is the new 60fps on there for more demanding games and plays well.
I don’t play new AAA on there though because I don’t think it’s really for that but great for indie or older games. Dishonored, Arkham, Bioshock, Wreckfest and some Resident Evil are great on there along with Balatro, Disco Elysium and Broken Sword. It’s a good entry into or a compliment to, PC gaming.

Re: Physical Game Sales See Dramatic Drop-Off in UK as Console Market Struggles

x3King84

@Flaming_Kaiser I almost fully agree with you except the value part. I don’t care about discs, or trade-ins. Plenty of digital sales on Steam, CD Keys, PS Store and/or gift cards with sometimes nearly 15% off. I feel I get value with what I buy.
I’m in the UK where there are very few actual physical game stores. I can’t be bothered to have something posted and then have to store the discs and change them each game. Steam been like this for ages.
I genuinely think the idea of physical game ownership is an illusion now - few gig on a disc, endless patches and updates… just a waste of plastic.
Does it make me a little sad to see physical die? Yes, but I’m OK with it. I don’t need a disc and box to last my lifetime really and I don’t care if I don’t really ‘own’ it. I can easily transfer my library on PS/Steam between PCs and new consoles and I’m good with that. PS6 will charge extra for a legacy disc player I am certain. No thanks.
To be honest, I am more bothered about the actual games rather than the medium I play on/with.

@GADG3Tx87 I’ve gone even further…

Started this gen with a Series S before going Series X and PS5…

Series XS now gone (like most people?!) and now it’s PS5 and Steam.

Sold all my PS4 discs on eBay and bought gift cards on CDKeys and bought digital versions of them all. Worked out surprisingly well during sales.

100% digital all in. I’m not a collector and don’t like clutter and physical is going the way of the dodo whether we like it or not. A few gig on a disc with patch after patch is just an illusion of physical imo.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?

x3King84

@neoxmahi serious question… what are you going to do when disc games are a thing of the past in the near future? Do getting updates and patches over the life of the game count as the ‘full game on the disc?’ Do you game on Steam?
I do understand the ideal of owning games on discs but let’s be honest that has gone.

I’m a busy working dad and just care about actually playing the games mate.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?

x3King84

@LikelySatan yea but once you ‘own’ the game you always do. Sadly Horizon 4 is delisted but Xbox offered it to me for £8 for the ultimate edition as it was in my GamePass library for years. CDKeys still have plenty of Xbox Anywhere codes FYI.
But yes it will be delisted unless MS renew licences.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5?

x3King84

@MrPeanutbutterz 100%. The ‘no disc no buy’ posts on every single comments section especially on Xbox ports have become tedious and nothing to do with the actual games.
This poll is about who is playing Forza and clearly lots of people are and loving it. It’s a masterpiece of a racer and I am so pleased PS players are now playing it too.

Re: PS Plus, Xbox Game Pass Are Not the Future of Gaming, Says US Analyst

x3King84

I still think Microsoft has backed itself into a corner with GamePass. Great value. Too great a value. Promising everything including big expensive AAA day one is insane. I do think a more ‘core’ or curated experience of some games for a set fee would have better whilst still selling the Crown Jewels for top money. Could drop the odd, older AAA in and out on rotation too.
I’m no businessman so it’s just my opinion. PS users are buying Microsoft games so perhaps helps prove my uneducated opinion a little!
They are producing so many games and leaving money on the table as I don’t think number of subs is rising? So what are Microsoft getting for putting more and more multi million pound games on the service? Not a lot.

Re: Forza Horizon 5 (PS5) - Xbox Had the Best Open World Racer All This Time

x3King84

@Toot1st 100% it’s a 10/10 game.

Still seems surreal it’s turned up on PlayStation. As it is an Xbox game I expect the usual negative comments for the sake of it such as ‘no disc no buy’ blah blah. Truth is it’s a remarkable game which will hit hard with the casual gamer and sell bucketloads.

I can see as an Xbox console user it sucks to see the Crown Jewels go full slate but lots of wonderful games are going out to more people.

Crew and NFS are good but Horizon is wonderful. 😁

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5?

x3King84

@dark_knightmare2 excellent. I love it too. I played on GamePass PC for fre… um, a sub, for money. Bought it for the PS5. Very very happy. I thought the review here was good but disagree the gameplay is weak. A bit basic maybe but not weak but everyone has different opinions. Hope it sells well and we get a sequel.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (PS5) - Globe-Trotting Adventure Just Got Even Better on PS5

x3King84

@EfYI do you think Xbox made a mistake promising every Microsoft game ‘day 1?’
I can’t help but think that having a selection of games on GP would be better than putting everything they own on there for no extra cost. Seems insane to me from a business point of view. Surely the more they put on without numbers rising much is just losing more and more money?
I still can’t figure out if the ABK acquisition has killed Xbox or made Microsoft gaming better (for non Xbox console players.)

It is rare I spend £70 on a game… funnily enough I’ve bought Indy and Forza H5…
I’m more of a CD Keys £5-£10 a game merchant. 😂 PC is great value.

Re: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (PS5) - Globe-Trotting Adventure Just Got Even Better on PS5

x3King84

@EfYI to be fair, for most people Game Pass isn’t free. It’s a sub which costs money. Great value but I am not sure how sustainable it is. I don’t think it is and the concern is that gamers expect a lot for not a lot.
£70 is a lot of money. But like most art, some will be happy and some won’t. Games can cost millions to make and hopefully with a lot of love and passion gone into it. For me, this is one of those games and I will and am paying £70 day 1. It’s expensive but I will get my money’s worth over and over.
I get most games on sale or cheap especially on PC and PS Store do good deals. That is the market.
I don’t see it an issue of fairness but of value. It’s a first world hobby but of course there is a balance. Customers need to be able to afford the products otherwise no one will buy.
Life does seem to be getting more expensive though!

Re: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (PS5) - Globe-Trotting Adventure Just Got Even Better on PS5

x3King84

@DennisReynolds the game is excellent mate. Works very well in first person. I’ve played/rented on Game Pass PC and despite having a reasonable PC there are some optimisation issues so I am happy to buy for PS5. 4K/60fps on Pro appears to be the Holy Grail or Black Magic as you say.
I don’t agree that gameplay is weak at all. It’s a 10/10 from me and I am hard to please. It was like me playing Batman Arkham or Spider-man for the first time. I knew it was special.
I can’t say enough good about this game especially if one is a huge Indy fan like I am.
The on or not on disc or lack of real physical edition is an argument done to death over a dozen articles at this point. I just want to talk about and praise THE GAME.
£70 day 1 - I still chose wisely.
